UPDATE #1 - Keicha Day to GMTOAC, Tuesday 26th May 2026 1-3 May 2026: ‘Cultural Grounding’ Held at Creswick with travel to Bendigo on Sunday. Highlights included: yarns with Aunty Jill Gallagher (former Treaty Commissioner) and Aunty Eleanor Bourke (former Yoorrook Justice Commissioner) and Karen Diver (former Advisor to Barack Obama for Native American Affairs); WTC Ceremony by DDW which also encompassed a ‘Three fire Ceremony’ where 3 fires were lit to held to acknowledge the previous Assembly, the current Assembly and the Elders Council with a transfer of ownship for cultural items was completed. 4-5 May 2026: Assembly preparation. Held at Djaara. Highlights included: meeting senior staff, legal team and support staff and receiving Co-Chair nominations for consideration. 6-7 May 2026: Inaugural Chamber /Meeting Held at Djaara. Focused on foundational decision-making including the election of Co-Chairs Meriki Onus and Djaran Murray-Jackson. UPDATE #2 - Keicha Day to GMTOAC, Monday 1st June 2026​ Lots of exciting things happening within Gellung Warl: 13th-15th May 2026-Our Assembly come together to workshop with the aim of informing further embedding of Gellung Warl foundations.  Outcomes to these workshops will shape our committees and leadership (via election within the Assembly). 27th May 2026-Myself and Co-Chair Djaran Murray-Jackson attended the last day of the National Walk For Truth led by Travis Lovett and following on from Yoorrook Justice Commissions’ work into truth-telling in Victoria. 28th-29th May 2026-Chamber meeting held online to elect leadership and membership to our committees.  Official announcement of these appointments are currently being announced.  Yesterday was the first of the deadly announcements as follows: Co-Chairs of the Elders Voice being Uncle Troy Austin and Aunty Thelma Chilly and Youth Voice Co-Conveners are Tarni Morris and Levi Power.  More announcements to come… Our next Chamber meeting is in Naarm from 22nd June 2026 til 25th June 2026.  We are expected to make our inaugural speeches on the 22nd June 2026 at Parliament house.  It will also be livestreamed for those interested in tuning in.  We also have a South West Treaty page on Facebook if GMTOAC would like to use any photos/updates from there as well otherwise I will endeavour to update roughly monthly.   I look forward to continuing updating Gunditjmara on Gellung Warl again soon.
